Our take

Linode — now operating under Akamai's network — has stayed close to its original pitch: straightforward, flat-rate cloud infrastructure without a lot of upsell. Outbound transfer allowances are generous compared to similarly priced competitors, and the documentation library is extensive enough to double as a self-serve support desk.

What we like

  • Simple, predictable pricing with generous bandwidth allowances included
  • Backed by Akamai's global network for edge performance
  • Strong library of guides for common server and application setups

Things to consider

  • Fewer managed add-ons than platforms like Cloudways — you're still the administrator
  • Console and dashboard are functional but less polished than some newer cloud UIs

Who it's best for

Developers and teams who want predictable cloud pricing without the extra layer (and cost) of a managed platform on top.

Bottom line

Linode remains one of the more straightforward clouds to reason about pricing-wise — good value if you're comfortable managing the server yourself.
